Sweet Alyssum

$3.00

Sweet Alyssum is a delightful white-flowered border plant, featuring a carpet of tiny white flowers with yellow centers which bloom throughout much of the season.

A quick growing tender perennial, Sweet Alyssum makes a great pathway plant, running along edges and brightening the way in the twilight and predawn hours.

Important pollinators that are drawn to Sweet Alyssum include parasitic wasps and syrphid flies. These pollinators, of course, act dually as beneficial insects that control “pest” populations.

In most regions, Sweet Alyssum is grown as an annual, though it is hardy for those in zones 9 through 11. In warmer areas, it may stop blooming during the height of summer, and then resume blooming later. Planting it in partial shade, for those with hot summers, can lead to ceaseless blooming throughout the growing season. Those in mild climates often can enjoy blooms all season in full sun.
