Signet Gem Marigold Mix
Signet Gem Marigold Mix
Signets are marigolds with single rows of petals, blooming all season long right up through the killing frost. The petals, when separated from the base of flower, are both edible and tasty (the base is bitter), and the Gem mix will splash a border garden with tangerine, yellow and red.
Marigolds, in general, are positive additions to the garden space, helping to deter mosquitoes and disguising crop plants from damaging insects, all while drawing in pollinators. This is particularly true of Signet Marigolds, which also draw crucial pollinators including hover flies, whose larva feed on aphids. Many species of parasitic wasp are also big fans, and smaller and moderate sized butterflies such as the Red Admiral are often visitors. Bumble bees and solitary bees may be the biggest fans of all, out of the many visitors that will grace these flowers.
Signet Marigolds are a low maintenance, fast-growing, colorful addition that almost always self-sows and is an all around win for the gardens they grace.
